Project Linus – providing security for children in need through blankets

16 Mar 2011

An important part of our mission at Lapel Stick is to give back to the community and share our success. It is our privilege to meet some of the truly incredible non-profit organizations in the USA and Canada that are making a difference in the lives of children. One of them is Project Linus:

This amazing group provides a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” Their secondary mission is to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

On March 16th a member of our sales team (Mr. Eddie Diss) was able to visit the Project Linus Ft Wayne Chapter to learn more about the work being done by the volunteers and to present them with a donation of Lapel Sticks to help them create more beautiful handmade blankets and gifts for children in need. “It was a truly wonderful afternoon and my honour to meet such remarkable people. We are very blessed to have a group like Project Linus making a difference in the world.” Eddie Diss

Our deepest thanks to Peggy Albertson for allowing us the opportunity to to learn more about the Fort Wayne Chapter of Project Linus – you can visit them online at: http://www.bestlinus.org or you can visit the main website to find a chapter near you and how you can get involved at http://www.projectlinus.org

“Each time a person stands up for a cause, or acts to improve the life of others, or strikes out against injustice or illness, they send forth a tiny ripple. Those ripples, no matter how small, come together and build a current that can move mountains and overcome the greatest challenges.”
