Progress report from Patchwork Tsushin on quilt delivery in the disaster area by Quilts4Japan Patchwork Tsushin, to whom we're sending all our quilts, publishes occasional progress reports in Japanese. Here's a newly translated report.

Comfort Quilt Report #2: Little by little, we have started hand-delivering comfort quilts to survivors in the disaster area. This report is from a volunteer in Sendai who is delivering these quilts.

I received a letter from a person who fell victim to the disasters in Ishinomaki and is living at her son's place. Her son's wife said she wouldn't pick up a needle and thread, no matter how others encouraged her to do so, but ever since the quilt arrived, she started sewing again. I felt really glad about that. We hope the quilts help people feel that way. Here's the full text of the letter:

"Thank you very much for giving one of those works that are so precious. I myself have done some patchworking, and I'm really grateful that I received such a splendid item. I will value it and make good use of it. After being stricken by the unforeseen disasters, I was at a loss as to what I was going to do, but after receiving your expression of sympathy and words of encouragement, I now think I will look forward and move on. Thank you very much."

No matter how many times I read it, I cannot help being touched by the feelings I see in the handwriting. I would like to thank you for letting me be an intermediary in this project.
