We finally got a moment to try out and review Lapel Stick!  Lapel Stick is a great little gluestick you can use in quilting for basting, amongst many other uses!

The first review is by Lysa, here’s what she has to say about Lapel Stick:

“First of all I’m a huge fan on anything that enables me NOT to use pins!  I love that Lapel Stick is easy to use and I can just let’r rip! With other similar products I’ve had to spend a good 5 minutes fiddling to get them to work by unclogged and cleaning them-ugh, that’s not fun! I did find however find myself concerned when using the Lapel Stick that the glue would go over the seam allowance and onto the table or ironing board I was working on (flash back from teaching and cleaning up after children’s art classes where glue sticks were involved). However with that concern I didn’t really notice any copious amounts that were left behind. For this product to be absolute perfection I would love for it to be the size of a Burt’s Bees narrow lip gloss, but until then I will happily be using this product instead of pinning! Oh, and it didn’t smell bad, lol! I’ve had some products that have turned a little funky smelling but the Lapel Stick still smells just fine!”

The second review is by Cynthia:

“I have been testing out Lapel Stick on a few different sewing projects. I am working on an art quilt and Lapel Stick comes in super handy to baste down all the little bits of fabric and mixed media I’m incorporating. It’s easy to stitch over and doesn’t gum up my machine needle.

It sticks just enough to hold things in place as I stitch them down, and sticks on bumpy or textured surfaces as well.

I really like how convenient it is, it’s not messy and doesn’t require constant cleaning and unclogging like other glue basting products do. It has hardly any scent to it which is nice too, and doesn’t seem to stain or change colour. It also washes out well!

I’ve also been using it to match up seams on my regular quilts.

I just put a little dab then press the seams together with my fingers and it holds everything in place, no pins, no muss no fuss!

All in all I really like it, though I agree with Lysa, if it was a bit narrower it would be perfection, but as is it works great and I really enjoy having it in my sewing toolbox!

Thanks Lapel Stick for the samples!
