Lapel Stick for Missouri Star Quilt

temporary fabric adhesive - never pin, baste stitch, or staple fabric again

The recent devastating earthquake and Tsunami in Japan has affected millions of people. The overwhelming and tragic loss of life is unimaginable. For the people that survived the tragedy the process of recovery and rebuilding has begun.

Naomi Ichikawa, Editor of Patchwork Quilt in Tokyo Japan, recently reached out to Quilters to ask for their help and support to provide comfort quilts for families and children who have lost everything. Lapel Stick is very honored to provide a resource page for Quilters in the USA and Canada that would like to participate and extend their support, we will also be sending cases of Lapel Stick to quilters in Japan to help rebuild their sewing and quilting kits.

Creating Labels for Comfort Quilts For Japan - Barb Round, CQA Regional Rep (Canadian Quilters' Assc.)

Quilts For Japan LabelWhen I read the appeal for quilts for Japan I immediately thought of the words of Cathy Miller’s song, “A Quilter’s Embrace”. I contacted Cathy (on tour in Australia) and she was pleased to give permission to quote her lyrics on a quilt label. I contacted the local Twinning Society which links our town to Ishikari, Japan and met Ikumi who translated the lyrics into Japanese. My thanks to Cathy, Ikumi and Lapel Stick for making this label freely available to any Quilters wishing to send quilts to Japan.” Barb Round (the PDF is free and contains label options for Canada, the USA, and International)

To receive your printable quilt label for your quilts please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or use our Contact form on the contact page and we will send you your labels immediatley.

English Translation of the quilt label: “May this quilt keep you safe from harm, May it be your good luck charm, I do not know your name or the mountains you face, What you hold in your arms is a quilter's embrace.”

Printing the Label onto Fabric: To ensure the printed label does not wash out when the quilt is laundered, either use commercially prepared fabric for printers, or prepare your fabric with a product like Bubble Jet Set, and use freezer paper to run it through your printer. The following video shows both commercially prepared fabrics and make-your-own instructions:
